CARBIN REEF Old Sagay, Negros Occidental

zabrinathewanderlust

Every drop in the ocean counts…CARBIN REEF Old Sagay, Negros Occidental

Carbin Reef is a huge, tongue-shaped, white sandbar 15km within Sagay City limits and is bounded on the north by Asuncion Pass and the Visayan Sea. It’s the center of the 32,000-hectare Sagay Marine Reserve.

The sanctuary was established in 1999 and abounds with a wide variety of underwater species, such as thriving coral formations, the occasional turtles, and large schools of fish.

Above the water, the reef seems to be a mere strip of sand, but below the surface is a wealth of natural beauty.

Due to the shallow water, diving is discouraged. Swimming and snorkeling conditions, however, are just about right. The reef itself can accommodate up to 100 people at low tide conditions.

*May of 2014- with my childhood friends, cheers to more than 30 years of friendship and counting for more 🙂

UNSPOILED MALALISON ISLAND : The Visayan Batanes

Serenity of a destination depends on its remoteness. Travel time is always considered by everyone and a great factor that affects their decision in visiting a  certain place. The longer the travel time the greater the possibility of having a tranquil, isolated, and off-the-beaten destination. Luckily, an island just 15 minutes away from the coastal municipality of Culasi, Antique has these qualities.
Its name is as majestic as the local legends to which the island was said to have originated. One version tells of how the islands of Culasi–Mararison, Batbatan and Maningning–were the three offspring of the beautiful Madja-as and the noble Kanlaon.

DANJUGAN ISLAND

Resting 3 kilometers Southwest off the coast of Negros Occidental, Danjugan is a lush, 43-hectare island rich in marine and terrestrial biodiversity. This island, about 1.5 kilometers long and 0.5 kilometers at its widest point, has 5 lagoons and is covered with limestone forests providing asylum to many wildlife species that struggle to exist in the mainland.
Together with Sipalay City and the Municipality of Hinobaan, it forms the southern border of the province and is situated in the Sulu Sea, an important eco-region for marine biodiversity.  The island’s surrounding reef is under the Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Sanctuaries

TANKE ( SALT WATER LAGOON )

Many myths surround this interesting natural attraction. One such story says that during the feast of Saint John the Bapist (San Juan de Bautista) on June 24, the water level inside tangke would magically rise significantly. Locals also warn visitors not to make too much commotion and noise in tangke as this would disturb the enkantos, or enchanted beings, which could cast nasty curses to those who upset them.
The only saltwater lagoon in this group of islands, this is Isla de Gigantes’ star attraction. Here, you will find yourself in the middle of a saltwater lagoon that is surrounded by limestone rock formations. Its blue-green and shallow water (during low tide) are reasons enough for one to take a dip, sit down and look up to appreciate natureMany myths surround this interesting natural attraction. ISLA de GIGANTES

It was a dream come true travelling to Gigantes Island because since 2001 i  really wanted to see the beautiful paradise.
I was with my teamates and supervisors when we went to ISLA de GIGANTES.  To make the story short, i convinced my teamates and supervisors to have our team building in ISLA DE GIGANTES! hehehe
Since i know someone who always go to Gigantes, a friend gave me the number of the owner of Gigantes Inn.  And that was fantastic! He gave me the number of JOEL DECANO, their family owns 2 islands and some islets in Gigantes and he was the tourism officer of Municipality of Carles.  I contacted him thru text and he replied to let him know what is the exact date of the visit because they need to check the availability of the rooms.  He also provided the van who will fetch us up in Dumangas Port since we are in Bacolod, and he will personally meet up in the Estancia Port to introduce the Tour Guide and give the itinerary.
JOEL DECANO/ GIGANTES INN – 09184685006
I dont have the number of the Van’s Driver ( I changed my phone and i lost the number )
